Landowners

How we can help.

Do you have a land that you’d like to turn into a woodland? Do you have some hedging that looks a little sad? No matter where you are in your process, we’re here to help. From Woodland Survey services to forest management, we’re here to increase the woodland cover of Cornwall.

The Process

Here you can find more information about the signup process and what to expect when applying to us for woodland creation.

Our Land Survey

The first part of our process is to check your planting site. More than anything, we want to be a force of good so planting on biodiverse grassland or wetlands is not how we roll. During a land survey, we’ll take a couple of hours to walk your site, take notes and figure out the best possible woodland creation for the site such as species, spacing and habitat.

We may have to turn your site down if:

  • It’s already a biodiverse or rare habitat such as unimproved grassland, wetlands or peatland.
  • It’s too small
  • We feel the landowner doesn’t have the interest/facilities to care for the woodlands we’ll create for themThere are things that will bump you up our waiting list such as:

There are things that will bump you up our waiting list such as:

  • Public access such as Right of Way or Permissive footpaths. The more public access the better
  • The land is an improved grassland and has low biodiversity
  • The site is larger than 3 acres (1.2 hectares)
  • The site is part of a larger rewilding plan

Planting Plan Sign-off

Once we have visited your site, we will create a site survey, planting plan and access agreement for the planting day. The plan will be a finalised agreement that was discussed previously at the site. The plan is sent for you to sign and agree too. However, if you’d like to make changes to your plan, this is your opportunity to do so. A total of 3 changes can be made before signing the agreement. Should you have further requests, we’ll move you to our next planting season and sign-off will continue there.

The Planting Day

The planting day will be discussed in the sign-off and will take place on a day that was agreed on by both parties. We provide all equipment, refreshments and labour for the planting day but we require parking and access from you. As a landowner, we recommend your attendance on the day but it is not necessary.
