How much are your trees?

As of August 2021, our trees are priced at £8.50 per tree, across all our schemes. This price covers:

•The cost of the tree purchase.

•A tree guard per whip.

•A Forestry Stewardship Council wooden stake.

•Our time, conducting land assessments, land mapping, planting day organisation, tree check-ups etc.

But I heard that tree planting schemes are bad for the environment?

You heard partially right! Trees don’t belong everywhere. In fact, planted in the wrong place, trees can cause more damage to the environment than good. That’s why we conduct in-depth land surveys of each site before we plant. This is to ensure we don’t plant on rare habitats such as upland moor and peatlands. If a site isn’t suitable, we don’t plant. Simple as that.

What kind of trees do you plant? They must be native?

We always plant native species but what we plant depends entirely on the site. Some sites are suitable for Atlantic Oakwood regeneration which mainly consist of Sessile and English Oak, Silver Birch and Holly. Other sites are more suitable for Wet Woodland such as Downy Birch, Grey Willow and Alder. We also plant hedgerows which are mainly made up of Hawthorn and Blackthorn. Unfortunately, due to disease, we don’t plant Elm or Ash trees.

Where do you buy your trees from?

We buy all our trees from the British Hardwood Tree Nursery. However, we’re working with up and coming local Cornish suppliers to make the switch to Cornish grown trees.
